OneKind Acts are small, simple things people can do every day to protect animals and raise awareness that animals think and feel just like us.
I am a proud supporter of OneKind. Animal cruelty and suffering is totally unacceptable. It’s about time we all recognised and acknowledged the fact that animals, like us, have thoughts and feelings. HumanKind, AnimalKind, OneKind.
My OneKind Act would be that if you have children or grandchildren try reading them an animal story that encourages them to love animals.”
I believe that animals are capable of thinking and feeling, and being happy and sad just like us. There are little changes we can make to our lives, from how we shop to what we wear that will help us live a more animal-friendly life."
You might say that I have always been affected by the childhood memory of a hoarding that I passed on a nearly daily basis when walking with our dog and my mother. It depicted three hungry pathetic animals cowing in a corner and the legend on the back read, ‘Is it nothing to ye who pass by?'
My OneKind Act is to cut down on meat, and try a meat-free meal at least once a week.”
Say something! If you see anyone committing, allowing or encouraging animal cruelty, have the nerve to speak to them. It does take a bit of courage -and for heaven's sake back off if they get nasty (which they can) - but you may be able to convince someone of the error of their ways, and save an animal from suffering If you sense that there are other people witnessing what is happening, get them to support you. Form a small deputation, as it were.... Please say something!"
Do not afford yourself any animal you can't afford to keep."
