OneKind has been campaigning for animals for over 100 years since the founding of the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Vivisection in 1911. We are at the forefront of advancing animal welfare in Scotland, working with like-minded organisations across the rest of the UK, Europe and globally. We effect positive change for animals through our high-profile campaigns, political lobbying, investigations, public education and promoting compassionate living.

In May 2024, the Bill to ban live exports from and through Britain passed its final stage in the UK Parliament. Read more

In 2020, the Scottish Government announced an effective ban on seal shooting. Read more
In 2020, we were thrilled when MSPs voted to recognise mountain hares as a protected species under the Animals and Wildlife (Penalties, Protections and Powers) (Scotland) Bill, putting an end to the mass scale mountain hare killings in Scotland. Read more
In 2017, we celebrated the end to the use of wild animals in circuses in Scotland. Read more
In February 2007 Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) announced that it was to end the hedgehog cull in favour of a trial translocation of the animals to the mainland. Read more
