As the dust settles from the landmark passing of the Hunting with Dogs (Scotland) Bill in January, here at OneKind we have been working hard behind the scenes analysing this new reform.

We have also been continuing our campaigns and lobbying to protect all animals from exploitation and cruelty.

Earlier in February, we co-chaired a meeting of like-minded organisations and individuals to collaborate on a phase out to greyhound racing.

Of course, February also brings along Valentines Day! We would like to thank everyone who showed their love for animals, the planet and their loved ones by sending a OneKind Valentines e-card. We have e-cards featuring adorable animals for any occasion and every purchase directly supports our work.

Last month was also a month of winners in the OneKind lottery. In fact, 1 in 3 of our players have won a cash prize! Every time you play in our lottery, you are fundraising for OneKind’s campaigns and supporting a kinder world for animals. It’s a win – win!

Earlier this month, we were delighted to meet with other like-minded organisations, grassroots groups and individuals to discuss collaborating on a campaign to phase out greyhound racing in Scotland.

Chaired by Mark Ruskell MSP, the groups came together in the Scottish Parliament to work together on a collaborative approach.

Further, OneKind Director, Bob Elliot, wrote an opinion piece titled 'Time to end the misery of greyhound racing' for The Herald.

We recently celebrated the passing of the Hunting with Dogs (Scotland) Bill as the positive step it is for wild animal welfare, and what should be an effective end to the 'sport' of fox hunting.

However, we also mentioned that we were analysing the Bill and noted there were some problems with it.

In our latest blog, our Policy Officer, Kirsty, has written about these in more detail.

Salmon farming coverage in The Scotsman

In other news, our joint calls with politicians and organisations, including Animal Equality UK, to the Scottish Government to halt the expansion of the salmon farming industry were covered by The Scotsman.
