About us Our history 1968 – St Andrew Animal Fund set up The fund was set up by the SSPV as a charitable body which provided funds for animal welfare issues and humane research techniques. SAAF also funded treatment of animals locally. In 1981 it was instrumental in setting up the Scottish Grey Seal Group. The group represented 6 Scottish animal welfare and conservation organisations and was in opposition to the annual pup hunt in Orkney and the Western Isles. St Andrew Animal Fund was merged with Advocates for Animals in 1990 following the SSPV name change.
