A local resident was out running when she spotted the animal, but didn't realise the deer was caught in a snare until he jumped up and tried to run. He was trying desperately to pull himself free from the contraption. The deer had the snare round his neck and, at one point, also had his legs caught in the wire. The resident managed to free the animal from the contraption and, other than hair loss, he didn't appear to have sustained any injuries. Other deer were seen nearby.
